What To Do If You Find a Wasp Nest in Your Garden

Insect Control
Wasp nest in a garden outbuilding

Finding a wasp nest in the garden can be alarming, especially when children, pets or customers use the area every day. The safest first step is to keep your distance and watch where the wasps are entering from without disturbing the nest.

What to do first

Do not block the entrance, spray the nest with household products or try to knock it down. Disturbing an active nest can make the wasps defensive and increase the risk of stings.

When to call Riddex

Professional wasp nest treatment is recommended when the nest is close to doors, windows, paths, sheds, loft access points, play areas or business entrances. Riddex can assess the access point, treat the active route and explain when the area should be safe to use again.

After treatment

Some wasp movement can continue for a short period after treatment while returning wasps come back to the nest. Once activity has stopped, future proofing can be considered if the same gap is likely to be reused.
